Top Special Rectangle

Menu: Top > Draw Special > Top Rectangle

  • What
  • Draws a rectangle and displays next to the graphic cursor the AutoCAD delta X or delta Y values.

Enter the command and on the screen is displayed a dialogue to select the plotting mode (Axis or Corner). The dialogue can modify the snap value (grid) on which the AutoCAD cursor must move. Snap can be activated/deactivated with the F9 button.

  • Why
  • To give a better view and simplify rectangle insertion.
  • How
  • Insert the first origin point (rectangle’s corner) and on the top of the screen a dialogue-box is displayed to choose between the Corner (default) or Axis mode. Insert the value with the keyboard, or moving the cursor on the screen. It the Snap is set, the cursor will jog with an angular gap indicated in the dialogue.

In the Corner Mode the two given points represent the rectangle’s two opposite corners; in Axis mode, the first point indicates the mid point of the rectangle and the second point the corner on the opposite side. The mid point indicates the hypothetical axis with the angle equal to 0 (horizontal).
