Define Chain Transmission Path (Sprockets Selection)

Menu: Top > Transmissions > Roller Chain > Select Sprockets

  • What
  • This command allows the user to select the transmission path through the selection of the sprockets that will compose it. The application interprets it as not necessarily a TOP sprocket, but associates the concept of sprocket to CIRCLES and ARCS, using the values of the centre and diameter, which are significant. For each selection, the sprocket is highlighted.
  • Why
  • Serves to define the chain path to calculate and draw, and also to define the type.
  • How
  • Launching the command you are asked to select sprockets according to the chain direction of travel and in a counterclockwise direction. The selection cycle is closed when you reselect a sprocket already selected and temporarily displayed on the screen.

At this point the program automatically parameterizes the chain path but some sprockets may have a wrong direction of travel. For this reason, the program asks which sprockets must be inverted (in order to avoid chain crossing). At each selection, the path is recalculated and displayed.

By pressing ENTER the selection is considered definitive and the program proceeds to perform the following checks:

    • Check of non-overlapping sprockets
    • Check of non-intersecting chains
    • Check of coherence between chain and sprocket

If all these checks passed successfully, the following interface will be displayed to the user, which will allow him or her to select the chain to use in this transmission:

If everything went well, you will see a confirmation dialogue box. Once confirmed, the definition of the transmission should be considered complete.
